Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 and professionally referred to as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female signing for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In October 2016 Ari Lennox debuted her Pho EP. This was the moment that she received recognition. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio release was May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox released her music online in 2012 after she released her five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw her continue to release her music on the internet including her independently release single Bound. The track Sweat it is featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21 2015. J. Cole had her sing her songs for the Dreamville Team later that year as he wanted Rihanna to work alongside her on some of the songs. Her announcement to be signed to Dreamville Records was made on the 8th of December. She made an appearance on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II in the track Backseat featuring Cozz. She released Pho, her debut EP on Oct 21, 2016. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's track Change and also performed as the opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. She also appeared in 2018 on two tracks with her labelmates EarthGang to Nothing but the Best. Also, she appeared on Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th July, 2018, released her first single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. A music video for it was also released on September 5th. On the 9th of November, she released two additional singles, forty Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. Then, in November 2013, she released her debut album No One as well as Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track that she recorded with Cole on the soundtrack to Creed II on the 16th of November. It was then released as a single on its own in February of 2019 to coincide with her debut album. The music video premiered on 20 February 2019 to go along with the track. Within a time, it was viewed more than 3 million views. In December of 2018, she was part of the From East Atlanta With Love Tour that featured 6LACK.
